In 2010, Goose Island introduced a groundbreaking beer with our first-ever barrel expression variant. Bourbon County Brand Rare Stout highlighted the critical role barrels play as an ingredient. That iconic release set a new standard for barrel-aged beer forever.
This year, we are reprising that exceptional release with our 2024 Bourbon County Brand Rare Stout. To celebrate, we’re returning to our roots and welcoming back Bourbon County “Rare Day”. Rare Day is the first opportunity to try our 2024 Bourbon County Brand line-up. Embracing the spirit of our time honored tradition “Prop Day", Rare Day will be located outside our Fulton Street brewery and be the first opportunity to bring home some of the very first bottles of this year’s variants, Proprietor’s Barleywine and of course, Rare.

Bourbon County Brand RARE Stout
This year, in celebration of the 10th anniversary of our barrel house, we are reintroducing Bourbon County Brand Rare Stout. The journey of this beer began with barrels that once held the rare and highly sought-after King of Kentucky bourbon. After aging for a full year in these exceptionally nuanced barrels, our imperial rye stout started to capture the essence of Brown-Forman's remarkable craftmanship and legacy. But we didn't stop there. We then transferred the aged stout to another set of King of Kentucky bourbon barrels, allowing it to mature for another full year. A testament to our heritage in barrel-aging, this 2024 Bourbon County Brand Rare Stout showcases a regal barrel expression with intricately woven caramels, rich cocoa, and a luxuriously long finish.

Rare Day is happening on Saturday, November 16th, at 1800 W. Fulton Street. The first session is 10am-2pm and the second session is 3pm-7pm.
